SGG Reflective is a reflective, solar control glass that has been carefully designed to meet the twin requirements of architects - the functional and the aesthetic. This solar glass product is manufactured by a process known as “on-line Pyrolytic coating” where a coating is applied to the glass surface by means of pyrolysis. The process fuses precious metal oxides on the surface of the float glass at high temperature whilethe glass is in formation. SGG COOL-LITE is a solar control glass, which blocks up to 2/3 of heat by reflecting it to the outside. It can be used in conservatory roofs or south-facing patio doors, for example, to help keep the interior cooler during hot months.
The glass has a microscopically thin coating on one side which provides an attractive appearance and reduces glare from direct sunlight. SGG STADIP SILENCE combines two sheets of clear glass bonded together with a totally transparent plastic interlayer. The interlayer absorbs sound and reduces the level transmitted through the glass helping to keep unwanted noise out, or to keep noise in.

SGG STADIP SILENCE is ideal for any application at home where there is a need to insulate against excessive noise levels but is most effective when used in double glazing. What is it?
SGG PLANITHERM is an advanced thermal insulation glass manufactured by coating clear or body tinted float glass with metallic oxides through an offline process of magnetically enhanced cathodic sputtering under vacuum conditions. SGG PLANITHERM, when coated on body tinted glass, combines solar control with thermal insulation properties. This thermal insulation glass has a neutral appearance. v. Laminated, Safety & Security Glass

It is more resistant to breakage than normal float glass.
When safety and security are a must, Guardian offers a wide array of performance glass products to meet your needs.
Laminated - From entrance doors and glass floors, to aquariums and display cases, laminated glass is the perfect safety solution. Two or more panes of glass are bonded together by a durable plastic interlayer, which enables the glass to strongly resist penetration by impacting objects. However, should it break, the glass will tend to remain in its frame, minimizing the risk of injury from sharp edges and flying or falling glass particles.
Tempered - Tempered glass is often referred to as safety glass because it is more resistant to breakage than normal float glass. Yet if it gets broken, it usually breaks into relatively small

vi. Energy- Efficiency / Low -E Glass
Insulating glass units improve the thermal performance of glazing by providing a thermal break.

Low-emissivity (low-E) coatings are microscopically thin metal layers that are deposited on a window surface to help keep heat on the same side of the glass from which it originated. Depending on the climate, and whether it's for commercial, residential or automotive use, Guardian has developed a number of different coatings to achieve specific results. The goal is to find the proper balance between capturing and reflecting solar heat.

Solar Control is a key issue in terms of energy saving:
• In hot conditions, or for buildings with high internal loads, it is used to minimize solar heat gain by rejecting solar radiation and help control glare
• In more temperate conditions, it can be used to balance solar control with high levels of natural light.

Defined as follows:
1- Reflectance - the proportion of solar radiation reflected back into the atmosphere
2- Direct transmittance - the proportion of solar radiation transmitted directly through the glass
3- Absorbance - the proportion of solar radiation absorbed by the glass
In hot conditions or for buildings with high internal loads, solar control glass is used to minimize solar heat gain. It allows sunlight to pass through a window or façade while radiating and reflecting away a large degree of the sun's heat.


ii. Thermal Insulation

Today's builders, regulators and wider communities are demanding more from glass. In particular, the focus on energy efficiency and tighter regulations are creating a greater need for low-emissivity (low-e) glass. Through advances in low-e glass, windows now play a big part in energy conservation and comfort, minimizing heat loss and internal condensation.
Low-e glass reduces the heat loss of the building by:
(1) Reflecting the energy emitted by room heaters and surfaces back into the room (long wave radiation)
(2) Allowing high transmission of the solar radiation (short wave radiation) through the glass to benefit from passive solar heat gain through the glass.
During winter, low-emissivity glass can reduce heat loss while allowing high levels of valuable free solar gain to heat buildings with no significant loss in natural light.
In summer, however, it can become uncomfortably hot. To maximize energy efficiency all year round, the ideal glazing solution often combines solar control and thermal insulation.


iii. Noise Control

No matter where it originates from, whether railways, aircraft or factories, noise is all around.
Future trend research suggests that traffic and noise in general will only get worse.
The careful and considered selection of glass can be crucial in helping to reduce noise level and meet noise requirements.
Glass controls noise by:
• Reflecting the noise back towards the source, and
• Absorbing the noise energy within the glass
We can improve the sound insulation of glass in different ways - increasing the thickness of the pane, using laminated glass on its own or within an insulating glass unit (the larger the gap between the panes, the better the insulation).
The best performance is however obtained when using an acoustic laminated glass such as Pilkington Optiphon™, and for the highest noise insulation, within an insulating glass unit, Pilkington Insulight™ Phon.


iv. Safety / Security

• The term “Safety” is applied to glazing used to reduce the risk of accidents by impact, fracture, shattering, or in a fire
• The term “Security” is applied to glazing, which in addition to “Safety”, is able to withstand a variety of deliberate attacks such as manual, ballistic or blast resistant.Using the right type of glass for security applications is not enough to ensure the necessary resistance to severe loads. Since the glass can behave differently in different framing systems, it is imperative to combine high performance glazing with high quality framing systems to achieve the level of protection required.
